We have just released a big update of our coverage of the wonderful climbing in Northumberland. Previously the information dated from the 2009 print guidebook and was almost entirely focused on trad routes with little bouldering. It also came in a triple package ‘Northern England’ covering Yorkshire Grit and the North York Moors.

All the trad route areas are also being updated with new topos. Endless Flight at Great Wanney.

The new package is dedicated to Northumberland and features the routes and bouldering together in one, sharing the same topos in places. This reflects the climbing style of the area where bouldering, routes and highballs all live closely together on many crags. It is early days and very much a work-in-progress.

New additions include the brilliant bouldering at Shaftoe, Rothley and Queens Crag. These three major venues have some of the best and most popular bouldering in the County. Not all the other crags have been updated yet but East Woodburn, Ravensheugh have been as have the routes at Simonside. We will be adding significant updates to the big hitters of Bowden, Back Bowden, Kyloe, Hepburn in the next few months.

To get the new area, search on Rockfax Digital for Northumberland. This may need you to update some of the existing crags if you had them installed.
