West Country Climbs – Free on Rockfax Digital

We are currently working on a new edition of West Country Climbs. This book first appeared in 2010 and covered all the superb and atmospheric trad and sport climbing in the South West of England.

The new edition will cover roughly the same areas but with much-expanded coverage and a few new crags added. It won’t include the Dorset crags of the last edition. It is due to be published later in 2022.

During the pandemic, many more people spent summer climbing in the UK and this meant that the book sold out more quickly than anticipated. There may be a few copies in outdoor shops but we have no more left and the new edition is a few months away. To cover the gap we are making the existing West Country Climbs content free on Rockfax Digital for the summer months.

New Crags Added

To mark this new release, we have added some new crags to the West Country Climbs 2010 book set on Rockfax Digital. The Wye Valley area has had Wyndcliff Quarry, Ban-y-Gor and Symonds Yat added. This is in addition to Wintour’s Leap, Wynd Cliff, Shorn Cliff and Shakemantle Quarry which were added in October 2021. Also added is the small area of Valley of Rocks on the north Devon coast, and Halldrine Cove near Bosigran.
