North Wales Climbs spans the major mountain crags from Llanberis Pass, to Cloggy; and from Ogwen to the Carneddau. It also includes the Llanberis Slate quarries, Tremadog, the Moelwyns, the Gwynant Valley, Mid-Wales, Gogarth and the Ormes of Llandudno. As is normally the case with the selected Rockfax guidebooks, the choice of what to include is based as much on the crag it is on as the route itself. If we include a crag then we tend to include a good selection of routes on that crag.
North Wales Climbs (2013)
New Edition – The new print edition featuring a full updated, more routes, new crag and action photos, is now available.
The diversity of the rock and the climbing styles in North Wales is phenomenal. This guidebook featured 8 different rock types and 56 different crags, each with its own character, feel and of course history. Since the bolt-boom of the 1980s and the rebolting efforts of recent years, North Wales now offers fine sport climbing to sit alongside its world-class traditional adventures. And it is these adventures that are the biggest draw to the area. Nowhere in the UK is there such a concentration of classic traditional rock climbs, of all grades and of such variety.
