Roche Rock has a long standing folklore attached to it and was among the first crags in the West Country to be explored and have their climbs recorded. These climbs, along with the venues, have stood the test of time, and today still give many their first climbing experience and provide the experienced with a good number of engaging routes in fantastic countryside. The geology of Roche Rock is scroal - a mix of quartz, felspar set in tourmoline that looks like granite and like granite is a joy to handle and climb on.
