Honister. This is the nearest you will get to Cascade ice in the Lakes. With a tough ten minute walk in to the nearest ice, this is ideal if you don't have the whole day. A prolonged cold spell is needed to bring the falls into good condition. Usually the type of weather that brings the ice into condition here doesn't involve huge dumps of snow so you should be able to get up the pass. Be careful if you're parked on top of Honister and it starts to snow, this is the time to head back to your car it doesn't take long for Honister to become quite exiting. If the ice isn't in head to Gable Crag. There are three areas, the incline cutting the face acts as a useful reference point.
