POETS AREA

The Poets Area is the closest piece of rock to much of the climbers' accommodation which explains its popularity - it can get very busy up here.
There is a fine collection of Orange and Red spot face climbs mostly on great rock though some routes feature the odd combination of sharp and polished holds! Also included here are newer routes on the left - Coeur de'Armeos, and the older neglected routes at Zeus away to the right.

Conditions
The crags get shade until around midday - useful in high summer - then they are full in the sun until it sets. Generally the routes dry quickly and there isn't much too much seepage except after heavy rain, at which point many of the routes on the left side of Poets become very slow to dry. It can be windy up here but calm humid conditions are more likely to create problems with some of the routes becoming soapy and unpleasantly greasy.

Approach
The Poets' Approach - the path starts up a short steep road beside the blue Lambrino Apts and runs up the slope rightwards and then up into an open gully (hornets in the high season) to arrive at the right-hand side of the cliff. 15 minutes.
