Although Mont-ral does not contain the same number of major routes as its near neighbour La Mussara, the routes have an individual stamp and the varied climbing styles will please most tastes. The first sector encountered on the approach described is Terranegra, not a very inspiring spot but it does give a number of shorter easier pitches useful for those just finding their feet or for a quick couple of warm-ups or downs. Much better pitches are to be found on the Arrepenjada pinnacle which is home to six or seven good easy grade 6s. The last two sectors included are also the most popular, and with good reason. Els Gegants has a great concentration of pocketed wall climbs and one superb two pitch 6c route up the very front of the main buttress. El Riu is a beautifully positioned sector with open faces and generally less steep pitches, again predominantly in the mid grade 6 range.
