Gear loop
You will notice that on some
harnesses there are other
loops as well as your belay loop
attached to the waist band. These
are called gear loops. They are
designed to hang equipment on.
You should
NEVER
use these
loops to belay from or tie your
knot to as they are not strong
enough and will break.
Belay loop - this is
where you attach
your karabiner.
