BROADHAVEN BEACH

This region has two main points of interest for deep water soloing. The first and smallest is the bizarre tubed Confucius Hole, which is found 'inside' the edge of the headland to the south-east of the beach. This cave is home to the superb, weaving Confucius. The second is the big, open, curved face of Broadhaven Cove. This crag has reasonable access to the bottom, and a useful jutting, viewing promontory at its eastern edge. What is doesn't have is solid rock in its upper reaches, so you'll need to know the cleaned exits before you embark on one of the central routes. That said, the hard routes are terrific, especially the steep arete of Jaws.
