A classic Yorkshire cliff - a true summit, miles from the road and north-facing. It's not all bad news though, there are some very pleasant routes on the sunny South Face and you will probably have the place to yourself. Simon's Seat is a brilliant place to escape the crowds - of climbers at least, I can't vouch for walkers. Beware falling orange peel and banana skins if climbing below the trig point. The classics of the North Face include some real belters, get the right day and a great time is assured here.
