A long abandoned quarry overlooking the town of Marsden, to the south west of Huddersfield. The quarry is very extensive and would make one of the most impressive venues hereabouts if is wasn't for the fact that it is north-facing, there is some loose rock around and there are access issues. The land in front of the quarry has long been used as a rifle range and the quarry wall forms a distant backdrop to some of the target areas. Over the years access has generally been allowed when the range is not being used, in fact parking used to be allowed at the shooting lodge which eased the approach to the crag considerably. Sadly an incident in 2006 jeopardised this and currently the shooting club do not want people on their land. Negotiations are ongoing so check the BMC RAD for up-to-date information - www.thebmc.co.uk
