Typical of main of the smaller Yorkshire crags Attermire consists of a short outcrop of compact limestone situated at the top of a steep grassy slope. The walls tend to give hard undercut starts in the higher grades and most of them are trad. There is some easier stuff in amongst the main climbs. There is also the impressive Victoria Cave which has a number of fine sport climbs. The crag is very exposed and will give no shelter in bad weather.
