The Bernia Ridge is the spectacular rocky crest that runs east west, a short distance to the south of Calpe. It is often described as the Costa Blanca’s version of the Skye Ridge and it does have a passing resemblance to its northern sister. The crest of the ridge offers a spectacular and arduous day out, though care is needed as there have been benightments and fatalities. The developed climbing area consists of several sport and trad routes which pick lines out from the good bits of rock along the southern flank of the ridge. The sport routes tend to be in the higher grades and include the classic Magic Flute. The trad routes tend to be easier, following cracks and all the ones listed here end at lower-offs.
