Steep overhangs are what Loup Scar is all about and there are plenty of them! Powerful and dynamic moves interspersed with short vertical walls typify the climbing on most of the routes; a style that is most suited to those with massive arms and a long reach. Although there are no easy routes here the crag's long-time classic of Lapper is well worth the effort and stays dry in even the heaviest of rain. The rock is generally excellent and the gear is good, although a small rack of wires will be necessary on some of the sport routes. Loup Scar is perched next to a picturesque bend in the river Wharfe and is a good place for non-climbing companions with plenty of opportunities for picnicking and swimming, including the impressive diving platform directly opposite the crag.
