Montesa is a fine little crag consisting of walls of good compact rock, in a splendid position. At first sight the routes look a bit disappointing since many are quite short, however the climbing is continually interesting with absorbing moves from start to finish. The rock is a sandy limestone with great friction, a pleasant contrast to the razor covered rock by the coast. The crag has a good range of features including some cracks, chimneys and small overhangs but mainly it is about pocketed walls and slabs. Included here are two of the main buttresses. A full topo is available from Camil's Rock Bar in the town for the bargain price of €3. Funds from the sale of this topo are used to help pay for maintenance of the crag so, if you enjoy climbing here, please buy the topo. The routes have been equipped by the local climber Ricard Jimenez. He tends to hang around the Camil's Rock Bar.
