SMALLDALE

The location of Smalldale Quarry leaves something to be desired, especially when the brick factory is in operation, but the climbing is enjoyable and the routes are well bolted. The Main Wall is just on the steep side of vertical with a few overlaps thrown in to provide the odd powerful pull. Most of the climbing is on thin edges and lay-aways giving routes with sustained sequences rather than single crux moves. The walls to the right of the Main Wall have somewhat easier routes and the rock is not quite as good although this will get better with use.
