BARCELONA AREA

Barcelona is Spain's second city and centre of the Catalan empire. For climbers it is probably best known as the gateway to the Pyrenees and the nearest airport (for most of the year) to the Sierra de Prades. Also nearby are the amazing conglomerate towers of Montserrat, that see occasional fleeting visits from climbers passing through the area. To the south of the city are a set of venues that see little attention from visitors, a pleasant set of limestone cliffs scattered through the Massis de Garraf amd only a 30 minute drive from the city. The summers here are very hot and dry and although it is prime season for the locals refugees from the north with fry. The rest of the year is likely to be good,
